The trance-like quality of gamelan music acted as a backdrop to our conference week in Solo. A group of musicians at the entrance of the hotel maintained a constant din of smooth ringing metal xylophones accompanied by voice and the floating notes of the flute throughout our conference. This traditional orchestra and form of Javanese music is beautiful and theatrical. Take a listen for yourself!
