I'm a believer that the best tasting products are those that are grown closest to you... in your garden if possible. Today, we finally made it to a big outdoor market in Astana and bought some delicious vegetables and fruits from somewhere in Kazakhstan. Even if they didn't originate on the Steppe, these purchases didn't travel as far as some of the goods in the supermarket.
Here's a taste of what we brought home.

fresh salty cheese, tomatoes, eggplant, plums, apricots, and, of course, strawberries |

perfection! |
In the meantime, I've inherited a little pepper and a tomato that I am trying to cultivate. The pepper is thriving in the hot sun of our balcony. This local veggie is sure to taste scrumptious!
