Since we have been here in Brasília, we have attended several parties celebrating Independence Day. Now that it is here and we have the day off, there is very little fuss or fanfare. However, the embassy had a stylish event with over 1,000 guests last week with music, food, and dancing. It was amazing to see the turnout and the deep ties Brazilians have with the United States. I felt more solidarity here than I have felt in any other country - so many connections. It gives me pause to (re)consider my home country and reflect on how much we must continue to strive.
Here are some of our pictures and highlights.
